norman, oklahoma-- i remember, gary ogan and i were up before dawn in grand targhee, wyoming having played a 4 piece band electric set there the night before ...and we saw the sun come up as we passed over the mountain into jackson hole for our flight-- then, 2 flights & land in tulsa, drive 2hrs (i think) and saw the sun set as we passed ok. city into norman-- bryn met us there the next day for this show -- a free concert in the park where the community comes out---college kids, families, young old--lawn chairs --- a borrowed amp for me & someone's son on the crew had a drum set for ogan, bryn flew w/ her bass -- and away we go --- also, i remember, i was about to start a song in the set and a train went by the park with its' horn in c and so i started in on hank's ramblin' man in c for the first time - i live for "accidents"

that morning i had written a song in my room after reading an article on "passing"- in this case, a half cherokee/half caucasian woman writing about "passing" as one or the other - in either group-- so, i had a song show up (always a cause for celebration to me) and was feeling pretty good about playing for the folks of norman --- so, largely electric, this is the best of what we did that night from 2 sets (we'd played so long on the 1st set that the 2nd set was literally 4 songs ( sound curfew-no time for encore)...i really need to get a stage clock...and maybe, a set list to time the shows...well, one day i'll turn pro

- gary ogan on drums & vx.
- bryn davies on upright bass & vx. (also, it was her b'day!)
and me on electric (it sounds like my tele) & acoustic
(we'd played as this trio only once- 2 years earlier)

we just got up there and had fun
