desmond tutu, homeletics&travels
i just returned from atlanta and a festival of homeletics-- it was a
conference of pastors, with guest pastors & workshops & a
component this year was of singer/songwriters and our music-- one
presentation was singing a song, the audience had a lyric on a giant
screen and 4 panelists had a lyric, and when the song was done each
theologian expert on the panel would comment on the spiritual,
christian, theology & bible basis for the song----- it was NOT like
american idle-- it was wonderful to have the songs commented on by
theologians before an audience of...theologians--- ( i did LAZARUS DIES
AGAIN & I NEVER HAD A SISTER )
also, at the first song
gathering, we were honored to have archbishop desmond tutu in our
audience & i got to meet him afterwards--- by the way, he LOVED the
song: "family tree"--- the other writers were, beth nielsen chapman
& adrienne young
and now i am making coffee for a weekend of
travels w/ bryn davies-vx & bass and casey driessen- fiddle &
me--- that should be a mighty trio--- there is a really good chance
that my dad, wayne scott, will be singing a few at big stone gap----
what a wild & diverse trip i am on...darrell
