i love playing & singing w/ john cowan...every single time we play & sing-

we first "met" from a fan letter that HE sent to me
when i first put out ALOHA FROM NASHVILLE 1995, 6 or 7ish- from a batch of red & green cassettes that i'd made- (it must have been xmas-time & before sugar hill bought it from me)
- john sent a letter that said: "you don't know me, but, i like what you do" or something like that
- what jc did not know was that i was a huge newgrass revival listener & that i knew he was a god of vocal prowess & groovalicious bass playing

fast forward a few years & we started playing together as part of the sam bush band- we did that together for 2 seasons-
and have looked for opportunities ever since to play & sing-
he on my recordings, me on his, writing songs, etc. etc.

then, we put together a killer electric group to play telluride in 2008-

tom britt on guitar (check out this guy's slide playing!!)
reese wynans on keyboards (can you spell: b 3?)
billy thomas on drums & vocals (deep groove)
and me on electric guitar & vx. & cowan on bass & vx.

...and we thought, well, we ARE playing telluride (10,000 people) so we should do a run-through show somewhere
-and then we got an offer for the paramount theater in bristol va./tn.- so, THIS is the first gig we'd ever played as cowan/scott band
- the energy is all there: sorta rehearsed & more sorta riding on a runaway train w/ me & cowan as fearless conductors
grinning our asses off and eating dreamsicles whilst we roll out of control towards telluride from silverton
and these great players who are well versed in jamming & country & rock & blues & fusion & on & on- shoveling the coal
- and the set runs from stevie wonder to waylon jennings to originals by me, cowan & a kool instrumental of tom britt's-

so, here it is- another 1st gig - good sound (foh & recording by chris mitchell who'd done my "live in nc" cd)
and a lucky & excited audience who didn't know what to expect (how could they...our 1st gig?) and we slung it out there
- with a very special thanks to merle dickert our promoter at the paramount who'd brought us there-- (thank you merle)

we went onto telluride & did a sunday afternoon slot there that went well - & we'd played in town once after that
-and that is it - we are just waiting for another opportunity/excuse to get THIS band together again
